(THE SIMILE)

Vividness: Have you noticed that similes can create pictures with words? This is why, when writing similes, it helps to begin with a picture in your mind.

Exercise Two: By finishing the sentence below, you will help me create a simile.

His eyes are as green as ___________________________________________________

 

EXAMPLES: The following sentences contain similes that use the word like.

a) His eyes sparkled like the waters of a blue lagoon.
b) Like a cascading waterfall, the glory of the Lord filled the temple.
c) Like thunder echoing through a storm, the Lion's roar covered the land.
d) The mountain rose and fell like a castle in an ancient tale.

 

Exercise Three: Finish the sentences below and create two similes.
